I thank the Government of Georgia for hosting this event, with all necessary safety measures and protocols in place. Tourism can be a force for good in our world, playing a part in protecting our planet and its biodiversity, and celebrating what makes us human: from discovering new places and cultures to connecting with new people and experiences. This Executive Council is an important platform for collaboration, to explore the way forward, and to support the future of tourism, on which millions of people’s livelihoods depend. The decisions you take today can help to shape the future of tourism, making it more resilient and sustainable, driving green economic growth and supporting jobs. Corona hits Georgia's tourism industry hard

Georgia's finance minister has announced a 78 percent drop in the tourism sector in the first eight months of 2020 compared to the same period last year. Georgia's tourism revenue has fallen by $ 1.8 billion to $ 483 million since the beginning of the year.

Instead of saving tourism, the gentlemen were thinking of starting a private organization

"Kenarak" airport was closed in protest of the construction of a new airport

In recent days, the airport "Kenarak" has been closed suddenly and without prior notice, and this has caused confusion and dissatisfaction among passengers.  The airport is in the possession of the army air force, and it is said that the air force authorities have announced the condition for reopening and reactivating the airport to stop the construction of Chabahar airport.  According to the governor of Sistan and Baluchestan, after 27 years, the Air Force has always prevented the construction of an airport in this area.

Tourism week programs should be virtual, semi-virtual and outdoor

"Vali Teymouri", the country's Deputy Minister of Tourism, spoke in a video conference with the provincial tourism deputies;  Tourism and rural development is a slogan that has been registered for this year, and the amount of work done in the field of rural tourism is significant in the Deputy Minister of Tourism. According to this year's slogan, we will seek more importance in the field of tourism development in villages and low-income areas. Celebrating tourism activists over the past year will be another executive action on this day.

Latest status of international flights from Iran

There are currently flights to Iraq via Basra.  Flights on the Najaf and Baghdad routes are provided on a case-by-case basis for Iraqi nationals holding visas or missions to these areas.  In the form of pilgrimage flights, there are currently no flights to Iraq.  The date for the launch of Turkish flights is currently first of October, but this date has not valid because several times, has been changed by Turkey.  Flights to the UAE are operated in accordance with health protocols and having a negative PCR test for passengers between the two countries. 

Passengers should not wait for flight to Turkey

Resumption of activities of Thomas Cook Tourism Company online

The British tourism giant, which declared bankruptcy last year, plans to resume its activities online. Of course, the license for this activity has not been issued yet and its time is not known, but Thomas Cook, unlike the past, will not possess a hotel, a plane and a shop.
