Meliá Hotels Signs New Three Hotels in Vietnam and Thailand

Mr. Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, the group’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. André Gerondeau, and the Regional Vice President Asia Pacific, Mr. Bernardo Cabot, recently ended their Asia Pacific tour, during which they visited China, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. During Mr. Escarrer’s trip, the company signed three new hotels: Meliá Hoi An and Meliá Phu Quoc in Vietnam, and Meliá Phuket Karon in Thailand. These new properties take Meliá Hotels International’s portfolio in Asia Pacific to 51 hotels, all scheduled to be fully operational by 2022. The company has seen spectacular growth over the last 6 years, growing from 6 operating hotels to 51 hotels in operation and pipeline. Since opening Meliá Bali in 1985, its first international hotel, Meliá has had a very strong focus on Asia, where it now has an extensive portfolio in 7 countries. In the medium term, the company expects that the growth of its Gran Meliá Hotels & Resorts, Meliá Hotels & Resorts, Sol by Meliá and INNSIDE by Meliá brands in the region may contribute to financial results and importance similar to that of their well-established and renowned Caribbean hotels. Furthermore, the company would like to bring other brands like ME by Meliá and Paradisus by Meliá from its portfolio to key destinations in APAC region. Over the last decade, the company has also focused heavily on China, a huge market in which it continues to make firm and consistent progress in increasing its hotel portfolio.

        HK $ 5 billion Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott will undergo testing and trials in the next two to three months before its grand opening      Lawmakers hope the hotel will help boost visitor numbers at the 41-year-old loss-making theme park A luxury hotel at Hong Kong’s Ocean Park will receive its first guests in early 2019 after being delayed for about six months, according to its developer . eter Lam Kin-ngok, chairman of Lai Sun Group, which developed the Hong Kong Ocean Park Marriott, said on Monday the HK$5 billion (US$641 million) hotel would undergo testing and trials in the next two to three months before its grand opening .   The 471-room hotel was meant to have opened in June but was delayed because of a number of reasons including its cash-strapped contractor, Lam said without elaborating .   “ It would be a bit of a rush to launch it in December,” he said, adding that the hotel would be a handy option for those who wanted to visit Ocean Park and Admiralty, a four-minute train ride away .   Rooms will cost about HK$2,100 on average . Contractor Hsin Chong Construction, which started work on the project in late 2014, faced financial problems early last year. It was also the contractor on the city’s visual art museum M+ in the West Kowloon Cultural District art hub until it was fired in August .   The Ocean Park Marriott would help boost visitor numbers at the 41-year-old loss-making theme park, which was searching its soul for a new position in the increasingly competitive tourism sector in the “Greater Bay Area”, lawmaker Yiu Si-wing said .

Six years after the creation of WAAG (Women At AccorHotels Generation), AccorHotels is giving fresh impetus to its international network promoting diversity, which already has more than 14,000 members globally, with the launch of 'RiiSE '. Last night, AccorHotels unveiled the new identity of the Group's international network to promote diversity, with a double "ii" symbolizing the men and women who are committed to sharing knowledge, solidarity and stereotypes . Six years after its creation, the WAAG network is taking a new step by improving the Group's commitment to gender equality with a new goal: diversity, as a key factor in collective performance . This action is based on the sharing of knowledge through a mentoring program with 900 pairs in some 20 countries. This network is active across five continents through the mobilization of strong regional communities. in 2018, is the promotion of especially female talent to positions of responsibility, and in the fight against all forms of discrimination . New hotel group Maribel launches in Europe

 The Scandinavian hotel company First Hotels has joined forces with global hotel management company Belvar to conquer Europe. Together, the companies are trading over 200 million euros in turnover, a figure set to double in just two years. The new Group has been named Maribel and has a threefold and equal ownership between the two owners of Belvar, Mads Jacobsen and Rune Firing, and the founder of First Hotels and the Flying Elephant Group, Asmund Haare.  “The portfolios are very well suited to each other and this is one of the cases where the total value exceeds that of the individual contributing elements,” says CEO of Belvar, Mads Jacobsen. Maribel will initially have more than 11,500 rooms in their portfolio, covering a total of 11 countries. Currently, the hotels operate under the trademarks First Hotels, Moxy Hotels and Courtyard by Marriott. In the UK alone, Belvar has opened 5 new UK Moxy hotels since December 2016. Major expansion plans Over the past few years, Belvar has become a significant European partner for the world’s largest hotel group, Marriott. The company has signed operational agreements for over 9,000 new rooms in a total of 45 hotels set to open over the next two years. The new Group will mean that they are represented in 17 countries. Equally, revenues will rise from two to four billion Norwegian kroner with a clear ambition of continued growth. Asmund Haare becomes Chairman of the board in Maribel, whilst Mads Jacobsen, Rune Firing and Simen Haare will become board members.  Mads Jacobsen has been announced as CEO in both Maribel and Belvar, whilst Rune Firing continues as Chairman of the board of Belvar. Next-generation operating company The European hotel industry is characterised by large and heavy international players.  Belvar, which is the Group’s operating company, will enter the top league of European hotel operators after the merger, but will maintain today’s effective organisation.
