Izmir, as a pioneer in sustainable tourism in Turkey, has become the first city to receive the Sustainable Tourism Destination Certificate in collaboration with the largest international network of sustainable tourism destinations.Izmir joined the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) in 2023 and initiated research to obtain the Sustainable Tourism Certificate. Now, with the acquisition of this certificate, the city is taking steps towards becoming a significant sustainable tourism destination by implementing relevant strategies.To ensure the proper implementation of the certification process and meeting its criteria, the Destination Management Unit was established within the Tourism Directorate of İzmir Municipality.

 Rixos Hotel Chain has obtained the rights for the management, development, and operation of the historic Al Montazah Palace in Alexandria, based on a leasehold, development, and management agreement. According to the terms of the contract, the Rixos group will independently execute, develop, and refurbish the palace, and will also manage and operate it after its official opening.Under the agreements, the group will proceed with the construction of a hotel within the palace premises, with its architectural style aligned with the palace environment and customer expectations. The plan is to establish a Rixos-branded hotel within the palace. Preparations for operations inside the palace are expected to be completed soon, with the palace being transferred for development and refurbishment operations in the near future.
